LEGOLAND + Hotel

A one-night Carlsbad getaway with hotel, ticket, parking, and toddler-friendly planning in one place.

Working plan

September 2027 · date TBD

We moved this trip to later in 2027 so the first half of the year is less packed. For this trip, the hotel is part of the experience, not just somewhere to sleep. The simplest plan is to arrive early, use the hotel perks, do one full park day, stay overnight, then either return to the park briefly the next morning or make the second day a lighter Carlsbad morning.

Day 1Arrive early, check bags / pre-check in, park day, hotel entertainment, overnight.
Day 2Breakfast, early park access if included, a few favorite rides, then head home before the afternoon gets tiring.
My first choice

LEGOLAND Hotel

Best if you want the overnight to feel like an extension of the park. It is at the resort entrance and includes kid-focused touches, themed rooms, daily hot breakfast, nightly entertainment, and early park access with eligible hotel stays.

More immersive

LEGOLAND Castle Hotel

Also steps from the park, with stronger fantasy theming and a playground / castle feel. I’d compare it directly against LEGOLAND Hotel and book whichever theme Wayne is more excited about or whichever has the better package rate.

Less themed alternative

The Cassara Carlsbad

A good alternative if the LEGO hotels are much more expensive. It is across from LEGOLAND with a pedestrian entrance, two pools, a splash pad, and a more traditional hotel feel.

Discounts

What to check before booking

  • Hotel + Ticket Package: LEGOLAND packages can bundle an onsite stay with 2-day Hopper tickets, breakfast, and hotel perks.
  • Book Early & Save: current offers can discount select hotel packages when booked 30+ days ahead.
  • AAA: LEGOLAND currently advertises up to 10% off hotel stays for AAA members, with tickets purchased separately.
  • Annual Pass: if you think you might visit again, compare pass pricing because some tiers include parking and hotel / dining discounts.
Parking

Know the extra fee

LEGOLAND Hotel and Castle Hotel currently charge $40 per night for self-parking. Parking is not automatically included with a hotel stay unless your pass level includes it. For a regular park day, parking can be pre-purchased and preferred parking is closer to the entrance.

If you stay onsite, use the hotel parking barrier QR code from your travel documents for entry and re-entry.

Toddler strategy

  • Check ride height requirements in advance so you know which attractions are realistic.
  • Start with the toddler / preschool areas before lines build.
  • Bring the stroller even if Wayne wants to walk.
  • Use the hotel for a reset if he needs downtime, especially if you stay onsite.
  • Skip trying to “do everything.” A hotel night makes this better as a relaxed experience.
  • SEA LIFE can work well as a slower indoor break if it is included in your ticket.
What I’d book

Best-fit version for your family

LEGOLAND Hotel + a 2-day package would be my first comparison for this specific trip. Since you’re intentionally doing the overnight, the included breakfast, entertainment, early access, and zero commute make the hotel itself part of the value.

If the onsite package is dramatically more expensive, I’d compare The Cassara as the fallback.
